Acyclovir
Acyclovir, also known as aciclovir, is an antiviral medication primarily used for the treatment of herpes simplex virus infections, chickenpox, and shingles. Acyclovir was patented in 1974, and approved for medical use in 1981. It is on the World Health Organization model “list of essential medicines”.
