Synthetic layered silicate
Gel forming grade of Laponite that swells in water to give clear and colourless colloidal dispersions. The viscosity of the dispersion depends on the electrolyte content and pH of the medium. It is useful in the pH range of 6-13 and forms strongly thixotropic gels. The gel formation is due to the formation of a 'house of cards' structure
