IMCD US employees donate more than 650 toys and books to children in need

Employee-led fundraiser exceeded its goal and will aid in delivering more than 650 toys and books to U.S. children

The need to support families is greater this year than ever before

IMCD employees have an annual holiday tradition of giving back to the community by participating in local toy drives. This year looks a lot different than previous years with logistics being hindered by the challenges of 2020; so we stretched our reach across the miles via a national fundraiser for Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.

Established in 1947, the nonprofit uses 97% of its donated funds to purchase toys and distribute them as a message of hope to families in need during the holiday season. Teaming up with them not only complemented tradition, but inspired employees.

Since IMCD is celebrating our 25th anniversary, we set a goal of raising $2,500 to align with our milestone celebration. Early on, IMCD US employees seized the opportunity to work as one team to donate to this worthy cause.

A week before the peak of the holidays, IMCD US reached the campaign completion and we are pleased that this employee-led fundraiser has exceeded its goal by 153%! The company matched the goal with a corporate donation and as a result, more than 650 toys and books will be distributed to less fortunate children in the U.S. this holiday season via Marine Toys for Tots.

The effort by employees resulted in a National Corporate Donor recognition for IMCD. However, as all IMCD US employees can agree on, what is most rewarding is the opportunity to bless others as a team by lifting children’s spirits during this challenging year.

About Marine Toys for Tots

Here are some interesting facts about Marine Toys for Tots:

  • The program collects and distributes an average of 18 million toys to 7 million less fortunate children each year during the holiday season (November and December) through an active and robust distribution network in more than 800 local communities in all 50 states.
  • They anticipate local toy collections will be negatively impacted during the holiday season due to the pandemic producing far fewer donated toys.
  • They also anticipate a significant increase in families with children seeking assistance from Toys for Tots.
  • Since 1947, Marine Toys for Tots has distributed 584 million toys to 265 million children.

With the need being so much greater this year, we are pleased to join Marine Toys for Tots in their efforts to put smiles on children’s faces this holiday season.
