A-C EAA Copolymer Waxes - Description

Honeywell A-C® copolymers are a family of synthetic waxes used as additives or modifiers to improve and enhance various performance properties.

In ink formulations, A-C® performance additives can be used to control rheology characteristics. They are also used to modify surface properties such as the coefficient of friction, water resistance, slip & mar, abrasion resistance, block resistance, and gloss.

In coatings formulations, A-C® performance additives can be used to control rheology characteristics, improve pigment suspension, and optimize metal flake orientation. They are also used to modify surface properties such as the coefficient of friction, water resistance, slip & mar, abrasion resistance, block resistance, and gloss.

In adhesives formulations, A-C® performance additives are used to lower melt viscosity (hot melt adhesives), improve adhesion, enhance compatibility, increase heat resistance, improve green strength, control oil and plasticizer bleed, reduce processing and set times

In plastics applications, A-C® performance additives are used to lower die head pressures, increase overall lubricity and metal release, lower melt temperatures, and increase gloss. They are also utilized in color masterbatch applications to increase pigment loading, promote uniform pigment dispersion, broaden pigment/filler compatibility, and increase chroma.

A-C® 540: Ethylene acrylic acid (EAA) copolymer in a prill form with an acrylic acid (AA) content of 5%, for use in adhesives to promote adhesion to various substrates. It is also used in aqueous floor polishes to provide drag (raising the coefficient of friction) thereby controlling the final coefficient of friction. Its acid number of 40 aids emulsification. Also used in solvent borne coatings to control rheology and provide metallic flake orientation. Used extensively in automotive basecoats.

A-C® 540A: Ethylene acrylic acid (EAA) copolymer in a powdered form, with an acrylic acid (AA) content of 5%, for use in adhesives to promote adhesion to various substrates. Can be used as a dispersing agent for color masterbatch applications in engineering resins. Excellent external lubricant for polyamide compounds.

A-C® 580: Ethylene acrylic acid (EAA) copolymer in a prill form, with an acrylic acid (AA) content of 10%, for use in adhesives to promote adhesion to various substrates. It is also used in aqueous floor polishes to provide drag (raising the coefficient of friction) thereby controlling the final coefficient of friction. Its acid number of 75 aids emulsification. Also used in solvent borne coatings to control rheology and provide metallic flake orientation. Used extensively in automotive basecoats.
