A-C EVA Copolymer Waxes - Description

Honeywell A-C® copolymers are a family of synthetic waxes used as additives or modifiers to improve and enhance various performance properties.

In ink formulations, A-C® performance additives can be used to control rheology characteristics. They are also used to modify surface properties such as the coefficient of friction, water resistance, slip & mar, abrasion resistance, block resistance, and gloss.

In coatings formulations, A-C® performance additives can be used to control rheology characteristics, improve pigment suspension, and optimize metal flake orientation. They are also used to modify surface properties such as the coefficient of friction, water resistance, slip & mar, abrasion resistance, block resistance, and gloss.

In adhesives formulations, A-C® performance additives are used to lower melt viscosity (hot melt adhesives), improve adhesion, enhance compatibility, increase heat resistance, improve green strength, control oil and plasticizer bleed, reduce processing and set times

In plastics applications, A-C® performance additives are used to lower die head pressures, increase overall lubricity and metal release, lower melt temperatures, and increase gloss. They are also utilized in color masterbatch applications to increase pigment loading, promote uniform pigment dispersion, broaden pigment/filler compatibility, and increase chroma.

A-C® 400: Ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymer in prill form, with a VA content of 13%, used extensively in hot melt adhesives (HMAs) to control rheology and boost adhesion. It can be added as a diluent but provides the dual function of reducing application viscosity at melt, while boosting adhesion. It is completely miscible in EVA adhesive resins. It is also used in candles to provide paraffin crystal nucleation, which increases thermal and breakage resistance, adhesion to glass, and fragrance retention.

A-C® 400A: Ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymer in powder form, with a VA content of 13%, used extensively in hot melt adhesives (HMAs) to control rheology and boost adhesion. Excellent dispersing agent and process aid for EVA-based wire and cable compounds.

A-C® 405M: Ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymer in prill form, with a VA content of 8%, for use in solvent borne coatings to control rheology and provide metallic flake orientation. Used extensively in automotive basecoats.

A-C® 415: Ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymer in prill form, with a VA content of 15%, developed specifically to be used as an adhesive flooding compound between the cable bundle and the extruded outer jacket in the manufacturing of cables. Also can be used in candles and adhesives.

A-C® 430: Ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymer in prill form, with a VA content of 26%, used extensively in hot melt adhesives (HMAs) to control rheology and boost adhesion. It can be added as a diluent but provides the dual function of reducing application viscosity at melt, while boosting adhesion. It is completely miscible in EVA adhesive resins. It is also used in candles to provide adhesion to glass and fragrance retention.
