SYN-ESTER GY-59 is provides outstanding lubricity characteristics and excellent solubility in naphthenic and paraffinic base oils, particularly in Group II and III base oils. SYN-ESTER GY-59 also has a lower acid number and lower pour point than many other Lubrizol polymeric esters. The latter property will enable the design of neat oils with improved low temperature properties.
As with the other SYN-ESTER products, SYN-ESTER GY-59 is designed to totally replace or substantially reduce the amount of extreme pressure additives such as chlorine or sulfur in industrial oils and coolants. In straight oils, maximum effectiveness is obtained when SYN-ESTER GY-59 is formulated with a phosphorous-containing additive such as ADDCO 360-P or an oil soluble active sulfur compound such as LUBRIZOL 5340MG. When using SYN-ESTER GY-59, the amount of active sulfur can be reduced by about 50-75%.
SYN-ESTER GY-59 is ashless and burns off cleanly. It does not cause staining and has excellent thermal, oxidative and hydrolytic stability. It is therefore ideally suited for use in straight oils where performance at high temperatures is required. It is an excellent replacement for lard and related lubricity additives. All GY Series SYN-ESTER products contain no chlorine, sulfur or phosphorous.
