Epodil - Description

Epoxy reactive diluents provide viscosity reduction for improved ease of application, improved pigment/filler wetting and improved application properties. Epodil reactive diluents are mono- and di-functional glycidyl ethers which can be used to reduce the viscosity of typical epoxy resins without causing significant changes in final physical properties.

Epodil epoxy modifiers are inert liquid hydrocarbon resins which acts as a surface tension reducers, pigment wetting aids, and as adhesion promoters.

More information about Epodil

Epodil 741:  A monofunctional butyl glycidyl ether reactive diluent used to reduce the viscosity of epoxy resin systems.  It is the best glycidyl ether for viscosity reduction with good retention of properties.  Most commonly used for tooling, electrical applications, flooring, and highly filled coatings.  Compliant with 21CFR 175.105 (with restrictions).

Epodil 742:  A monofunctional  cresyl glycidyl ether reactive diluent used to reduce the viscosity of epoxy resin systems. Since monofunctional diluents, in general, cause molecular weight chain termination, the minimum amount necessary to achieve the desired viscosity reduction should be used.  Epodil 742 affords good chemical resistance, especially against acids and solvents along with good maintenance of physical performance. It has low volatility and reduces the crystallization potential of standard epoxy resins. Principal applications include tooling, electrical potting compounds, laminates, coatings, and flooring.

Epodil 746:  A monofunctional 2-ethylhexyl glycidyl ether reactive diluent.  It is a less toxic, less irritating substitute for Epodil 741 with only a slight reduction in dilution efficiency. Low volatility makes it suitable for high temperature cure.  Principal applications include potting compounds, flooring and mortars, coatings, and laminates.

Epodil 747:  A monofunctional aliphatic glycidyl ether reactive diluent.  Offers improved dilution efficiency compared with Epodil 748, but has a slightly higher vapor pressure and skin sensitization potential. In all other respects, properties are similar.  Principal applications include flooring and mortars, potting compounds, laminates, and coatings.

Epodil 748:  A monofunctional aliphatic glycidyl ether reactive diluent.  It is a general-purpose diluent with low toxicity and low vapor pressure.  Epodil 748 slows reactivity, has good viscosity reduction, and improves flexibility and adhesion to non-polar surfaces.  Compliant with restrictions on all of the following: 21CFR 175.105, 21CFR 175.300, 21CFR 176.180, and 21CFR 177.1650.  Principal applications include flooring and mortars, exposed aggregate, coatings, and laminates.

Epodil 749:  A difunctional glycidyl ether reactive diluent based on neopentyl glycol.  Maximum viscosity reduction of liquid epoxy resins with minimum reduction in physical properties can be achieved with this diluent.  It has low volatility and reactivity.  Compliant with 21CFR 175.105 (with restrictions).  Principal applications include civil engineering applications; electrical potting and encapsulation, and laminates.

Epodil 750:  A difunctional glycidyl ether reactive diluent based on 1,4-butanediol.  It has the best dilution efficiency of difunctional glycidyl ethers, low volatility, and minimal impact on reactivity.  Compliant with 21CFR 175.105 (with restrictions).  Principal applications include electrical potting, casting and encapsulation.

Epodil 757:  A cycloaliphatic difunctional reactive diluent based on cyclohexane dimethanol.  If affords good maintenance of physical properties combined with moderate dilution efficiency along with good creep resistance.  Principal applications include laminates, potting compounds, and civil engineering applications.

Epodil 759:  A monofunctional aliphatic glycidyl ether reactive diluent.  Similar to Epodil 748 with the improvement that it is less likely to crystallize.  Principal applications include coatings and civil engineering.

Epodil 761: An aromatic mono-functional diluent of p-tertiary butyl phenol. It provides excellent compatibility with epoxy resins and good retention of physical properties. Epodil 761 is often used in flooring, coatings, and mortar applications.
Epodil 781: Epodil 781 reactive diluent is a mono-functional diluent. Epodil 781 is a glycidyl ester of neodecanoic acid. Epodil 781 is sometimes used as a performance alternative for Epodil 748, with a tradeoff in some mechanical properties.

Epodil LV5:  A chemically inert, low viscosity liquid hydrocarbon resin diluent.  It acts as a surface tension reducer, as a pigment wetting aid, and as an adhesion promoter. Epodil LV5 is a specialized additive enhancing the performance properties of a formulated system contributing to improved chemical resistance, adhesion, and water resistance while maintaining a high level of corrosion resistance.  It also improves trowelability of epoxy mortars.
