Learn more about Modified Release Drug Delivery
Discover the complexities of modified-release formulations to demystifying modified release drug delivery.

Discover the complexities of modified-release formulations and how to select the right polymers for matrix tablets. If you are seeking in-depth knowledge about polymer chemistry and functionality in order to optimize development timelines and improve formulation outcomes, this is the webinar for you.

Modified-release formulations often provide advantages in patient compliance and patent exclusivity compared to immediate-release versions. However, what’s less apparent is that these dosage forms bring their own set of challenges.
A deep understanding of the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API), the target product profile (TPP), and the necessary release-controlling polymers is crucial. Without this knowledge, development delays and higher costs can occur, impacting return on investment.

Key strategic decisions must be made regarding the desired in vivo behavior and the final dosage form, which will significantly influence formulation strategy and polymer selection. Should it be a tablet or a capsule? Should the release be sustained or pulsatile? Should the drug follow zero-order or first-order release kinetics? Would matrix tablets or multiparticulate systems be better suited?

Each of these decisions plays a vital role in determining which polymers and excipients to use. In this webinar, experts will discuss the most used polymers in matrix-modified release tablets, covering their various chemistries and how these differences impact performance. Additionally, a decision tree will be presented to guide matrix tablet formulation.

Participants in this webinar will gain insights into:

  • The characteristics of different polymer grades and their effects on dissolution performance in the final product
  • How APIs influence the selection of polymers for matrix tablet formulations
  • Synergies between different chemistries and use level benefit (and beyond).
