High Density Oxidized Polyethylene Homopolymers

Honeywell A-C® homopolymers are a family of synthetic waxes used as additives or modifiers to improve and enhance various performance properties.

In ink formulations, A-C® performance additives can be used to control rheology characteristics. They are also used to modify surface properties such as the coefficient of friction, water resistance, slip & mar, abrasion resistance, block resistance, and gloss.

In coatings formulations, A-C® performance additives can be used to control rheology characteristics, improve pigment suspension, and optimize metal flake orientation. They are also used to modify surface properties such as the coefficient of friction, water resistance, slip & mar, abrasion resistance, block resistance, and gloss.

In adhesives formulations, A-C® performance additives are used to lower melt viscosity (hot melt adhesives), improve adhesion, enhance compatibility, increase heat resistance, improve green strength, control oil and plasticizer bleed, reduce processing and set times

In plastics applications, A-C® performance additives are used to lower die head pressures, increase overall lubricity and metal release, lower melt temperatures, and increase gloss. They are also utilized in color masterbatch applications to increase pigment loading, promote uniform pigment dispersion, broaden pigment/filler compatibility, and increase chroma.
 

Key Features

A-C® 307A: Hard, high drop point, high density, higher molecular weight (MW), oxidized polyethylene (HDOxPEs) homopolymer in powder form mainly used as a metal release agent for PVC processing. It will not affect clarity in transparent PVC applications. Its low acid number does not allow it be emulsified for use in aqueous systems, like most of Honeywell's other high density oxidized polyethylene (HDOxPEs). Can also be used in adhesives.

A-C® 316A: Hard, high drop point, high density, oxidized polyethylene (HDOxPEs) homopolymer, in powder form for use in waterborne coatings and inks, overprint varnishes, polishes and textiles to improve surface properties including mar and abrasion resistance by lowering the coefficient of friction. In textiles, this can help improve sewability and fabric cutting, helping to extend cutting machine lifetime. Its acid number of 16 allows it to be emulsified into water. Can also provide heat resistance to hot melt adhesives (HMAs). In addition, may be used as a metal release agent for PVC processing and is a fusion control for PVC formulations. It will not affect clarity in transparent PVC applications. Very effective for use in processing PVC regrind.

A-C® 325: Hard, high drop point, high density, oxidized polyethylene (HDOxPEs) homopolymer powder (granule) for use in water borne coatings and inks, overprint varnishes, polishes and textiles to improve surface properties including mar and abrasion resistance by lowering the coefficient of friction. In textiles, this can help improve sewability and fabric cutting, extending cutting machine lifetime. Its acid number of 25 allows it to be emulsified into water. Can also provide heat resistance to hot melt adhesives (HMAs).


A-C® 330: Hard, high drop point, high density, oxidized polyethylene (HDOxPEs) homopolymer powder (granule) for use in water borne coatings and inks, overprint varnishes, polishes and textiles to improve surface properties including mar and abrasion resistance by lowering the coefficient of friction. In textiles, can help improve sewability and fabric cutting, extending cutting machine lifetime. Its acid number is 30, which allows it to be emulsified into water. Can also provide heat resistance to hot melt adhesives (HMAs).


A-C® 392: Hard, high drop point, high density, oxidized polyethylene (HDOxPEs) homopolymer powder (granule) for use in water borne coatings and inks, overprint varnishes, polishes and textiles to improve surface properties including mar and abrasion resistance by lowering the coefficient of friction. In textiles, can help improve sewability and fabric cutting, extending cutting machine lifetime. Its acid number of 30 allows it to be emulsified into water. Can also provide heat resistance to hot melt adhesives (HMAs). Additionally, it is an effective metal release agent for cellular PVC applications.

A-C® 395A: Hard, high drop point, high density, oxidized polyethylene (HDOxPEs) homopolymer, in finer powder form than A C 395, for use in water borne coatings and inks, overprint varnishes, polishes and textiles to improve surface properties including mar and abrasion resistance by lowering the coefficient of friction. In textiles, can improve sewability and fabric cutting, extending cutting machine lifetime. Its acid number of 41 allows it to be readily emulsified into water. Can also provide heat resistance to hot melt adhesives (HMAs).
