Terpene Phenolic Resins

Terpene phenols are widely regarded as having the highest polarity of all tackifiers. They provide outstanding specific adhesion in EVA and SBC systems. Their polarity and high softening points combine to provide excellent hot tack in bookbinding and packaging applications. These versatile resins can even be used in bookbinding adhesives that require resistance to ink oil. They will improve the adhesion of hot melt packaging and pressure sensitive adhesives to difficult-to-bond substrates like coated and recycled paper, glass and metal foils. Their biorenewable content is 60%.

Key Features

SYLVARES® TP 96 is a low softening point terpene phenolic resin with broad polymer compatibility. This thermoplastic resin is designed to tackify hot melt and pressure sensitive adhesives providing improved tack, peel and flexibility for EVA, SIS and acrylic based systems. When formulated as a co-resin this product will significantly improve performance properties of rubber-based adhesives with limited impact on heat resistance. Soluble in aliphatic, aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons, esters, terpenes, ethyl ether, and some alcohols. Insoluble in glycols, ketones and most alcohols.

SYLVARES® TP 115P is a medium softening point, low polarity terpene phenolic resin with broad polymer compatibility. This thermoplastic resin is designed to tackify hot melt and pressure sensitive adhesives providing improved tack, peel and flexibility.

SYLVARES® TP 300 is a terpene phenolic resin designed to tackify hot melt adhesives providing improved adhesion, flexibility, and thermal stability properties for EVA based systems. Soluble in aliphatic, aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons, esters, terpenes, ethyl ether, and some alcohols. Insoluble in glycols, ketones and most alcohols.

SYLVARES® TP 2019 is a terpene phenolic resin which has a high terpene level and exhibits excellent tackifying, flexibility, and compatibility properties for use in numerous polymers for adhesives. Soluble in aliphatic, aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons, esters, terpenes, ethyl ether, and some alcohols. Insoluble in glycols, ketones and most alcohols.

SYLVARES® TP 2040 is a terpene phenolic resin. This thermoplastic resin is designed for tackifying hot melt adhesives to provide superior adhesion and thermal-stability properties. Soluble in aliphatic, aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons, esters, terpenes, ethyl ether, and some alcohols. Insoluble in glycols, ketones and most alcohols.

SYLVARES® TP 2040HM is a terpene phenolic resin with a high terpene level, which exhibits excellent tackifying, flexibility, and compatibility properties for use in numerous polymers for adhesives. Soluble in aliphatic, aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons, esters, terpenes, ethyl ether, and some alcohols. Insoluble in glycols, ketones and most alcohols. It is a higher softening point version of SYLVARES® TP 2040.

SYLVARES® TP 7042 is a high softening point terpene phenol resin designed to provide excellent compatibility and solubility in a wide range of applications which use rubber, elastomers or plastics.
 

Recommended Applications

SYLVARES® TP 96 is used in hot melt adhesives, packaging, bookbinding; hot-melt; solvent-based and acrylic pressure sensitive adhesives.

SYLVARES® TP 115P can be used in hot melt packaging adhesives and acrylic pressure sensitive adhesives.

SYLVARES® TP 300 is used in packaging hot melt adhesives and bookbinding.

SYLVARES® TP 2019 is used in packaging hot-melt adhesives and as a co-tackifier in pressure sensitive adhesives.

SYLVARES® TP 2040 is used in packaging hot-melt adhesives and as a co-tackifier.

SYLVARES® TP 2040HM is used in packaging hot-melt adhesives and as a co-tackifier.

SYLVARES® TP 7042 is used in adhesives & sealants, rubber compounding applications and engineering thermoplastics.
